The business was originally owned by Lewis and Louise Murphy, better known as Mama Lou and Papa Lou. Since opening its doors, in 1975, El Toro Taco has remained a family owned business.

It is currently owned and operated by their daughter and son-in-law, Mrs. Dawn and Mr. Jeff Rasar.
